Letter to CMS

Letter to CMS

WOTA submitted this letter to CMS today, asking for the proposed reimbursement cuts to be stopped.  Occupational Therapy is proven to reduce future medical expenses, and to improve patient outcomes. Reducing the reimbursement rate (the proposed reduction is 9%) is not good for therapy professionals or patients.

CMS Changes Harm OT

The Occupational Therapy profession is facing payment pressure from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS is attempting to adjust Medicare Part B by reducing fee schedule payment for codes tied to occupational therapy. These reductions, planned for 2021, could result in an estimated 8% - possibly 9+% decrease in payment. These reductions not only impact Medicare payment but are also often the basis for commercial insurers fee schedules.  We are joining AOTA, ASHA, WPTA and APTA, among other therapy groups, to advocate against these changes. We encourage you to write your representatives, and help us ensure a fair payment model. More information is linked here.
